Shopping

Brasília's shopping happens in malls — the city was designed without a true street-level retail tradition, so the shopping centres fill the gap. Iguatemi in Lago Norte is the most upmarket, with international luxury brands. Park Shopping in the south is the largest. Conjunto Nacional above the bus station is the most central and most useful for visitors.

For Brazilian crafts, the weekend Feira da Torre at the base of the TV Tower is excellent: handmade jewellery, woven hammocks, leather, and good cheap food. The Feira dos Importados in SIA (south-west) sells (often dubious) electronics and household goods at low prices. The Museu de Valores at the Central Bank also has a small numismatic shop with collectible coins and notes.
