Chez Michou Crêperie

Chez Michou has been a fixture on Rua das Pedras since 1989 and is one of those places that has outlasted every food trend without changing much. It serves crêpes — sweet and savoury — made fresh to order in a simple open kitchen. The sweet options lean heavily on Brazilian tropical fruits: banana, cupuaçu, abacaxi, and combinations thereof. The savoury crêpes make a light, inexpensive meal.

It is also one of the cheapest places on Rua das Pedras, which says something about its relationship with the town. On summer nights there is usually a queue; at any other time of year you walk straight in. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, popular with young Brazilians and families.
