Antillanca is a small, rustic ski resort tucked inside Puyehue National Park in Chile's Los Lagos Region. With five lifts and slopes that top out around 1,500 meters, it is not a big-name destination — and that is exactly the draw. The runs are uncrowded, the off-piste terrain is excellent, and the setting among ancient araucaria forests and volcanic peaks is hard to beat.
When the snow is good, you can climb to the ancient crater of Casablanca at 2,000 meters for sweeping views across the Andes into Argentina, with the volcanoes of Osorno, Puntiagudo, and Puyehue lined up along the horizon. In summer the area is equally rewarding for hiking, with trails through the national park leading to hot springs and volcanic landscapes.
