Pucón sits under the Villarrica volcano, which smokes visibly and is climbed most days in season by roped parties who leave at six. It is the busiest adventure town in the Chilean lake district.
The other things here are water — the Trancura river runs Class III and IV a few kilometres out of town — and hot springs, of which there are a dozen within an hour.
