Pucón is 780 kilometres south of Santiago. The fastest option is to fly to Temuco's La Araucanía Airport — about an hour by air — and then take a bus or taxi for the 110-kilometre journey to Pucón (around 1.5 hours). Temuco has regular flights from Santiago with LATAM and JetSmart.
By bus from Santiago, the journey takes 9–10 hours. Several companies including Tur-Bus and Pullman offer overnight services, and the sleeper buses with reclining seats are comfortable enough to wake up in Pucón reasonably rested. The bus terminal in Pucón is on Avenida Uruguay, within walking distance of the centre.
Alternatively, fly to Santiago and take the overnight bus directly — many travellers find this the most practical combination of speed and cost.
