Café Brasil

Café Brasil on Avenida Fresia is a reliable meeting point for travellers and a good spot to plan the next day's activities over a coffee and a slice of kuchen — the German-influenced fruit cake that is ubiquitous in the Chilean Lake District, a legacy of the nineteenth-century German immigration that shaped the entire region. The coffee is strong and the wifi works.

In the evenings it becomes more of a bar, serving pisco sours and local craft beers. The atmosphere is sociable rather than rowdy, and the outdoor tables are pleasant on warm summer evenings when the volcano turns pink in the late light.
