The roads and trails around Pucón offer excellent mountain biking, from easy lake-shore circuits to challenging ascents on the volcano's lower slopes. The route around Lago Villarrica takes the better part of a day and provides varied terrain — flat sections along the shore, short climbs through farmland, and a few rough tracks through native forest. The views of the volcano from the far shore are the best available anywhere in the area.
Bikes can be rented from several shops on Avenida O'Higgins in central Pucón. Trail maps are available, but the road network is simple enough that getting lost is unlikely. The area around Ojos del Caburgua and Lago Caburgua makes a good destination for an intermediate day ride — mostly flat with one or two manageable climbs and excellent scenery throughout.
