The cultural centre on Plaza de Armas was built in 1962 as a joint project between Chile and Mexico — President Adolfo López Mateos donated funds and Diego Rivera's name. The two-storey building holds rotating exhibitions of local artists, a 350-seat theatre, and a permanent room of Mexican folk art.
Free admission. The cafe on the ground floor is one of the few decent coffee stops in the centre. Closed Sundays.
