Cap Ducal

Seafront restaurant built to look like a ship moored beside the sea

The Cap Ducal is one of Viña's odder buildings: a 1936 hotel and restaurant designed to look like an ocean liner permanently moored alongside the rocky coast. The dining room sits at "deck" level with full-length windows looking out over the breakers; on stormy days waves hit the glass.

The menu is mid-priced Chilean seafood — corvina with butter sauce, conger eel, ceviche, a few good Casablanca whites. It is a touristy choice but the view and the building are genuinely interesting and the food is reliable.
