Iglesia de San Juan Bautista

The oldest church in Pasto, originally built in the 1560s on the site where the city was founded. The current structure dates mostly from the late 17th and 18th centuries after earthquake damage and rebuilding.

The whitewashed exterior with its plain brick tower is restrained, but the interior is the city's best example of late-colonial baroque, with a richly gilded high altar and side chapels full of carved saints.
