Cañaveral is the first major coastal sector many visitors reach after entering Tayrona National Park through Zaino. It is not just a beach name but a useful orientation point: from here the route continues toward Arrecifes, La Piscina, and Cabo San Juan, while the landscape shifts from road access into the park's forest-and-coast walking rhythm.
The sea can be rough and swimming conditions vary, so treat Cañaveral as scenery and trailhead as much as beach time. It is a good place to pause early in the day, adjust plans, and get a first sense of Tayrona's granite boulders, palms, and Caribbean light before continuing deeper into the park.
