Tayrona's main draw is the combination of hiking through primary tropical forest and swimming on some of Colombia's most beautiful beaches. The park rewards those who stay overnight, when the beach crowds thin out and the forest comes alive with nocturnal animals. Day trips from Santa Marta are possible but limiting.
