Eating Out

Villa de Leyva's restaurants cluster around the Plaza Mayor and the streets leading off it. The local speciality is trout and mojarra — freshwater fish from the Boyacá highlands — served with the standard Boyacense accompaniments: fried plantains, papaya salad, and rice. Prices are considerably lower than Bogotá for comparable quality, and the best places fill up fast on weekend afternoons when the town is busy.
