The Statue of the Virgin Mary stands above Banos and is reached by a steep stairway climb from near the public cemetery. The ascent gains roughly 250 metres, so it is a short hike rather than a casual stroll.
The reward is the view back over town and the surrounding green slopes. Start early or late in the day if you want cooler weather, and carry water even though small shops near the lower trail may sell snacks.
