A simple obelisk on the Stanley waterfront, unveiled in 1984 by the islanders to honour the 255 British servicemen who died in the 74-day war that ended the Argentine occupation on 14 June 1982. The memorial lists all the British units that took part — Army, Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Merchant Navy.
Every year on Liberation Day (14 June) a parade gathers here for a remembrance ceremony. The site faces Stanley Harbour and the memorial is at the heart of the small downtown.
