The Baños del Inca are a set of thermal hot springs about 6 km east of Cajamarca, long considered sacred by the local Andean population and used by Inca royalty. The main spring flows at about 72°C, too hot to bathe in directly, but the complex has pools where the water is diluted to comfortable temperatures. The facilities range from communal pools to private tubs, and the experience is practical rather than spa-luxurious — popular with local families at weekends.
The site is managed as a public bathing complex. It is an easy taxi or combi ride from the city centre, and most visits combine a soak here with a trip to the Ventanillas de Otuzco, which is a further 10 km northeast.
