Laguna Churup is one of the classic day hikes from Huaraz, climbing to a high Andean lake below Mount Churup. The trail is well marked but not casual: it gains about 500 metres over 3 kilometres, with a short final rock section aided by fixed ropes.
The reward is a clear mountain lake, sharp views back toward Huaraz, and a real taste of the Cordillera Blanca without committing to a multi-day trek. Start early and check transport back from Pitec before you set out.
