The Parque Natural is part zoo, part urban forest reserve, occupying about 30 hectares on the road between central Pucallpa and Yarinacocha. The animal enclosures are functional rather than impressive — jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, river turtles, an old anaconda — but the surrounding forest is genuine, with a small lake and a wooden lookout tower.
It's the easiest way to see Amazonian wildlife at close range if you don't have time for a proper jungle trip, and the entrance fee is nominal. Avoid the heat of midday; mornings are also when the animals are most active.
