By Air
Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport (PBM), usually called Zanderij, is the main international gateway, about 45 km south of Paramaribo. Allow roughly an hour for the drive into town and arrange a transfer before landing if you arrive late.
Amsterdam is the main long-haul gateway. Regional connections change often, so check the airport and airline schedules rather than building a trip around an old route list.
Entry Requirements
Many travellers can visit for tourism without a visa but must pay the Suriname Entry Fee online before departure. The rules depend on your passport, and all passengers must also complete the Immigration and Customs Form shortly before travel. Use the Surinamese government's entry page for the current process; unofficial visa sites are easy to mistake for the real one.
Your passport generally needs at least six months' validity on arrival. A yellow-fever certificate is required when arriving from, or making a long transit through, a country with a transmission risk. Confirm the exact rule for your route before flying.
By Road
The coastal road reaches Guyana via the Canawaima ferry at South Drain and French Guiana via the Marowijne crossing between Albina and Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. These are border crossings, not turn-up-and-go city ferries: check the current departure days, immigration requirements, and last connection before setting out.
By River
Small boats also cross between Albina and Saint-Laurent, but use the official crossing and complete immigration formalities on both sides.
