The Port of Oran is one of the busiest commercial ports in North Africa — container ships, ferries to Spain and France, naval vessels at the inner basin. The breakwater extends almost 4 kilometres into the bay, sheltering a complex of quays that handle most of western Algeria's foreign trade.
Casual visits to the port are limited; the security perimeter is tight. The best view is from the Front de Mer corniche above. Ferry passengers heading to Alicante or Marseille experience the port from the inside; the boarding and customs process is slow but functional.
