Oran is hot in summer (July and August routinely above 32°C) and mild in winter (rarely below 10°C). The best months for a city visit are April to early June and September to early November — warm but not punishing, the sea pleasantly cool, and the corniche evenings at their best.
The Rai International Festival in July is the city's most distinctive cultural event, with free open-air concerts in several venues. Beach season runs from June through September. Ramadan radically reshapes the daily rhythm — many restaurants are closed during the day and the city only comes alive after sunset.
