La Grillade is one of several brochette and grilled meat restaurants clustered in the streets north of Rond Point Biao — the type of place where whole chickens rotate on spits above charcoal through the evening and the smell carries a block downwind. The menu is built around brochettes (skewered grilled beef or chicken), poulet braisé, and a rotating selection of whatever the market had that morning. Plantain, fried yam, and pepper sauce round out most plates.
The seating spills onto the pavement at peak hours (from around 7pm onward) and the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. This is the part of Bafoussam's food scene that most resembles what you find at street level across West Africa — better valued for its authenticity and price (1,500–2,000 FCFA for a full meal) than for any particular refinement. Worth combining with a walk through the Quartier Haussa immediately to the north.
