The main beach runs along the western side of Kribi town itself, from the small fishing port at the northern end down towards the road south to Lobé. It is not the prettiest beach in the area — the better stretches are south, beyond the falls — but it is the most accessible, with hotels, restaurants, and bars opening straight onto the sand.
Weekday mornings are quiet. On weekends, day-trippers come down from Douala and the beach fills with families, beach footballers, and the smell of grilled fish from the makeshift kitchens. The water is warm year-round and the surf is generally gentle, though currents can be strong after rain.
