The bay below Stanley Bridge, with the most-photographed urban beach scene in Alexandria. Two arcs of sand on either side of the bridge are public, with a small but well-maintained promenade running along the seawall.
The water is reasonably clean for a city beach (cleaner than most central stretches), and the bay is sheltered enough that swimming is safe in normal conditions. Lifeguards on duty in summer. The beach is busy from June through September; outside summer it is one of the best Alexandria walks. Several private cabanas and umbrella-rental operations work the beach in season; expect to pay 30–50 EGP for an umbrella and two chairs. Restaurants and cafes line the bay on both sides of the bridge.
