Eating Out

Dahab punches well above its weight for food. The waterfront promenade is lined with restaurants where you sit on cushions at low tables facing the sea, picking your fish from the catch of the day. Bedouin-style places cook over open flames and serve some of the most honest food in Sinai -- grilled fish, fresh salads, and Egyptian staples at prices that feel almost unfair.

For something beyond the usual, Dahab has a surprising range of international options. You will find decent Indian, Italian, and Japanese kitchens alongside the local fare. The budget end of town is along the Assalah backstreets, where small Egyptian restaurants serve filling meals for next to nothing. The upmarket options cluster around Masbat Bay and the Lighthouse area.
