Getting Around

Dahab is small enough to walk everywhere. The town stretches about seven kilometers along the coast, and the main tourist area between Assalah and the Lighthouse is a pleasant twenty-minute stroll along the waterfront promenade. You will not need transport for day-to-day life.

For trips to the Blue Hole, the Lagoon, or further afield, pick-up truck taxis cruise the main road and charge a few pounds for short hops. Shared minibuses run between Dahab and Sharm el Sheikh (about an hour), and East Delta buses connect to Nuweiba, Taba, and Cairo. Rental bicycles are available but the road surfaces are rough and the heat can be punishing. For desert excursions or airport transfers, most dive centers and hotels can arrange a jeep or minibus.
