Axum's sites are concentrated and walkable. The Northern Stelae Field and the Cathedral of St Mary of Zion are within a few minutes of each other at the centre of town. The Dungur Palace is a short walk west, and the Tombs of Kaleb and Gebre Meskel sit on a hill 1.8 kilometres northeast. A full day is enough to visit all the major sites; two days allows more time at the museum and for the day trip to Yeha.
