Chasimba Caves are a low-key but genuinely interesting archaeological stop inland from the Kilifi coast. Excavations have found material from the Middle Stone Age, Late Stone Age, and Iron Age, suggesting an unusually long sequence of human use in and around the caves.
The visit is not set up like a formal museum. Arrange a local guide from the nearby village, wear shoes that can cope with rough ground, and treat the site with care; its value is archaeological as much as scenic.
