Morija Museum and Archives

About 40 km south of Maseru, the small town of Morija holds the country's best museum — the Morija Museum and Archives, run by the Lesotho Evangelical Church and covering Basotho history, the early French missionary period, and the geology of the area. Its standout exhibit is a set of large dinosaur footprints brought in from the surrounding plateau.

The town itself was the first mission station in Lesotho (1833) and the sandstone church and the printing-press buildings still stand. The annual Morija Arts and Cultural Festival at the end of September is the largest cultural festival in the country.
