Parliament of Lesotho

The compound housing Lesotho's bicameral parliament — the National Assembly and the Senate — sits on a hill above the city, with the royal palace nearby. The buildings themselves are unremarkable modern blocks, but you can walk up to the perimeter and the setting offers a panoramic view back over Maseru toward the Caledon River and South Africa.

Inside access requires a permit; the security guards may or may not let you approach the gate to look. The site is most interesting as a place to think about Basotho politics — coup, return to democracy, recent constitutional turbulence — rather than as architecture.
