Chaouen is small enough to explore on foot in a day, but worth spending longer. The medina itself is the main attraction — wander without a plan and you will find staircase alleys, rooftop terraces, and small squares that repay slow exploration. Beyond the town, the surrounding Rif Mountains offer serious hiking, particularly toward the Akchour waterfalls and Talassemtane National Park.
