Zambi

Upmarket Polana seafood restaurant in a modernist house with a garden

Zambi is one of the more polished restaurants in the city, occupying a 1960s modernist house with a wide outdoor garden in upper Polana. The kitchen does contemporary takes on Mozambican coastal food: tiger prawns in coconut sauce, line fish ceviche, lobster à zambeziana, slow-cooked goat with cassava, and a long wine list that leans on South African and Portuguese estates.

It is the kind of place to mark an occasion rather than a casual lunch. Prices are roughly double those of Mundo's, and reservations are a good idea on Friday and Saturday nights. The garden dining is the spot to ask for.
