The Hôtel de la Poste is one of the oldest hotels in Saint-Louis, dating to the colonial era, and its terrace bar on the island's main street is a good spot for a sundowner. The building itself has atmosphere — creaking wooden floors, ceiling fans, faded grandeur that fits the city's general mood. The terrace catches the afternoon breeze off the river and has a view of the street life outside.
The bar serves Senegalese beers and simple cocktails, and the kitchen will put together a snack if you need one. It attracts a mixture of travellers, NGO workers, and the occasional Senegalese businessman. Not flashy, but genuinely pleasant.
