River No. 2

Pristine jungle-lined white-sand beach where a river meets the Atlantic

About 45 minutes west of Freetown's Lumley Beach, River No. 2 is a pristine jungle-lined, white-sand beach that stretches for kilometers. A river cuts the beach in two as it empties into the Atlantic — hence the name. There is a small guesthouse right at the river mouth. To get there from Freetown, hire a taxi or join a shared ride on weekends when the beach draws a local crowd. Bring your own food, or arrange for locals or the guesthouse staff to prepare meals.
