Nyamepi is the main public camp in Mana Pools and the practical base for most independent visitors. It sits on the floodplain near the Zambezi, with campsites and basic facilities spread under large trees. The camp is unfenced, which is not a romantic detail but a daily reality: elephant, baboon, hyena, and sometimes predators move through the area.
The location is excellent for exploring the river frontage and nearby pools. Early mornings often begin with elephant feeding around camp and hippos calling from the river. Keep food secured, give animals space, and do not walk around after dark without knowing exactly what you are doing. Mana's magic and its risks are the same thing.
