Malay Technology Museum

The Malay Technology Museum sits in the Kota Batu district, about 4 kilometres east of the city centre along the river, near the Brunei Museum. It covers traditional Malay technologies and crafts — bronze casting, boat building, weaving, fishing, and the production of traditional weapons — through dioramas and hands-on displays. The presentation style is old-fashioned by modern museum standards, but the content is genuinely interesting.

Three main galleries cover different aspects of traditional material culture. The boat-building gallery, with full-sized traditional vessels, is the highlight. The museum is free to enter and rarely crowded. Combine it with the Brunei Museum and the Kota Batu archaeological park next door for a half-day in the eastern part of BSB.
