Tamu Kianggeh is BSB's main open-air market, set along the banks of the Kianggeh River in the heart of the city. It is busiest in the mornings — go between 7am and noon — when vendors spread out produce, fish, jungle vegetables, herbs, and local snacks across wooden tables under canvas awnings. You will find things here that do not appear in supermarkets: jungle ferns, wild honey, giant river prawns, and a bewildering variety of bananas.
The market is as much a social hub as a shopping destination. Older women sit at the edges selling kuih (traditional cakes and snacks) from baskets. The riverside setting, with the water village visible across the Kianggeh River, makes it one of BSB's most pleasant corners to spend an hour. On weekday mornings it is quiet; on weekends and public holidays it expands considerably.
