Zhongshan Park is a large central Xiamen park named for Sun Yat-sen, with gardens, a lake, paddle boats, small amusements, and a statue of the republican leader. It is a good pause between older city streets and the busier shopping areas around Zhongshan Road.
The park is most pleasant as an everyday local space: families out with children, people strolling by the water, and small performances when the timing is right. Do not expect a manicured show garden, but do use it when you want shade and a little city breathing room.
