Shangqing Temple Forest Park is centred on a Taoist temple with origins in the Tang dynasty. The temple has been rebuilt and repaired many times after earthquakes, fires, and periods of war.
The setting makes it more than a single shrine visit: paths through the park give a quieter contrast to Luoyang's larger museums and archaeological sites.
