The epicentre of Luoyang's annual Peony Festival every April, when the park fills with hundreds of peony varieties in full bloom. Luoyang has cultivated peonies for over 1,500 years, and this park is the best place to see them. Outside the festival, Wangcheng Park is a pleasant green space in the city centre with a small zoo and the remains of an ancient Zhou dynasty royal city site.
