The Tujia Folk Customs Park near Zhangjiajie city preserves traditional architecture, crafts, and performance traditions of the Tujia minority people who are the historical inhabitants of the Wulingyuan area. The park includes reconstructed Tujia village buildings, including the stilted hanging-leg houses characteristic of western Hunan mountain communities, and regular performances of Tujia music, dance, and the "shaking hand dance" — a group dance performed at festivals.
The park sits between the city and the Wulingyuan park entrance and can be combined with a morning in the forest park and an evening at the folk park for a reasonably full day. It operates as both a cultural preservation site and an entertainment venue; the cultural content is genuine even if the staging is commercial. Admission around ¥120.
