Changchun's food is northeastern Chinese — a cuisine built for cold winters, centred on wheat and corn rather than rice, and characterised by hearty portions, pickled vegetables, and pork in many forms. Korean influences are present throughout the city, and the ethnic Korean neighbourhood in Xinmin District offers some of the best Korean food in Jilin Province.
