Longwangtang Cherry Blossom Park is best known for its spring blossom, when thousands of cherry trees planted in the 1920s come into flower. The season is usually around April and May, and it is the time when the park feels most worth the trip.
The setting also includes the Longwangtang Dam, an Art Nouveau-style structure from the Japanese colonial period. Outside blossom season, the dam and lakeside setting still make a quiet half-day stop if you are already exploring the Lushunkou side of Dalian.
