North Mountain Temple is a Buddhist and Taoist complex on the hill north of central Xining. The lower Tulou Temple remains the main accessible landmark, while the hillside paths and cave walkways give a sense of how the complex was built into the mountain.
The climb is part of the appeal, and the upper slopes offer broad views over the city when access is open. Check local conditions before setting out, as parts of the hill path have closed after erosion.
