Jinan is Shandong's main rail hub and one of the best-connected cities in northern China. The Jinan West Station on the Beijing–Shanghai High-Speed Railway has trains to Beijing South in 2.5 hours (¥165–300 depending on class) and to Shanghai Hongqiao in 3.5 hours. The Jinan East Station serves the Jinan–Qingdao high-speed line, reaching Qingdao in about 1.5 hours. Tai'an — the base for Mount Tai — is 20 minutes on the high-speed line; Qufu is about 30 minutes. The older Jinan Station (the rebuilt German one) serves conventional rail routes.
Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport (TNA) is 40 kilometres north of the city and has good domestic connections and some international flights. The airport bus runs to the city center. Bus and long-distance rail connections extend to all major Shandong cities.
