Guishan (Tortoise Mountain) National Park north of Jining offers a modest range of hills with walking paths, a reservoir, and sections of the ancient Qi State wall from the Spring and Autumn period (771–476 BCE) threading through the landscape. The park is popular with local hikers and is a reasonable escape from the flat canal plain that characterises most of the Jining area.
The ancient wall sections here are less impressive than those in the Yimeng Mountains to the east, but the combination of hilltop views, reservoir, and historical remnants makes for a pleasant half-day. Spring and autumn are the best seasons; the park is busy with Jining residents on weekends.
