Erlin Gate, also called the Viewing Tower, marks the site of the old north gate of the ancient Lu city. The present gate-like structure dates from a Ming-era reconstruction in 1494 and adds a useful bit of city-wall context north of Qufu's Confucian core.
It is not as important as the Confucius temples or cemetery, but it rewards travellers who are tracing Qufu's older urban layout on foot.
