Alibabas has long been the top of the heap for nightlife among Tianjin expats. The original building was demolished and Alibabas relocated across from the university, tucked into a small alley — same ownership, same employees, same spirit. Beer is the best deal in town at 8 RMB a 600ml bottle, food is cheap, and on Friday and Saturday nights it's the liveliest gathering spot for foreigners in the city. They've added free internet and a take-a-book/leave-a-book shelf. Service can be slow. Dress code is non-existent — as long as it covers your feet and your privates, you're welcome.
