Tianjin's signature dishes are goubuli baozi, pork-and-broth buns with 18 pleats that the city has obsessed over since 1858 — the original Goubuli restaurant on Shandong Road is still going, if touristy. The other essential is jianbing guozi, the rolled breakfast crêpe with egg, crispy cruller and bean paste — best from a good street cart. Food Street (Nanshi Shipin Jie), an enclosed mall of food stalls and regional restaurants, is a good one-stop if you're short on time. For seafood, head towards Binhai — the harbour puts it all on a plate.
