Lijiang's main draw is the old town of Dayan, a remarkably intact Naxi settlement that rewards slow exploration on foot. Beyond the old town, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and its surrounding valleys offer half-day and full-day excursions — from cable car rides to walks through alpine meadows. The Black Dragon Pool park ties the two together with the single best vantage point in town.
